OGPS Career Services offers a curated selection of resources and articles, uniquely designed to support Tulane's graduate students and postdoctoral fellows throughout their career preparation process. Additionally, our OGPS Career Services team hosts bi-weekly workshops and one-on-one career coaching appointments throughout each academic semester.

Who's Eligible for OGPS Services? 

  • Graduate students in the School of Liberal Arts (Master's and PhD), School of Science and Engineering (Master's and PhD), Public Health and Tropical Medicine (PhD only), Freeman Business School (PhD only), and School of Medicine (Biomedical Sciences only, PhD and Master's). 

  • All Postdoctoral Fellows at Tulane University. 

We highly recommend that each master’s student schedule their first meeting with our career counseling team at least six months prior to graduation, and PhD students meet with us before completing their qualifying exams.

This workshop is tailored for participants seeking non-academic job opportunities. Participants will learn how to craft a targeted resume that highlights their transferable skills, work experience, and accomplishments to effectively market themselves for non-academic positions.

 

Workshop 2: Networking and Building Professional Relationships (Academic/Non-Academic)

Date: Monday, January 26, 2026

Description: In this interactive workshop, participants will gain insights into effective networking strategies and learn how to build and maintain meaningful professional relationships. Topics covered include networking etiquette, informational interviews, and leveraging connections for career advancement.

 

Workshop 3: Mastering LinkedIn: Strategies for Professional Success

Date: Thursday, February 12, 2026

Description:  Learn from Ryan Stivers, a Nationally Certified Online Profile Expert (NCOPE), this workshop is designed to help professionals and job seekers effectively utilize LinkedIn for career growth and networking. Attendees will learn strategies for optimizing their profiles, engaging with content, and leveraging LinkedIn's tools for job searching and building professional relationships. The session will include practical tips to ensure participants can apply these skills immediately.

 

Workshop 4: Interview Skills and Techniques (Academic/Non-Academic)
