Tulane Innovation Institute: Provost’s Proof of Concept (PPOC) Fund
Deadline: Fall 2025 cycle is now open; info session on August 14, 2025.

The PPOC fund is a pathway for early-stage research and technology development that demonstrates a viable market application and the potential for a feasible business model. These grants advancing innovation cover various expenses, from studies and consulting, customer discovery efforts, detailed IP analysis, and prototype development, all aimed at bringing research to life.
Eligibility: Applicants must have a connection to Tulane as faculty, research staff, or graduate students, postdocs, fellows, residents. Non-faculty applicants must have a faculty sponsor for the application and a letter of support. Please check out the website for more details on other requirements.
Support: Grants up to $50,000 for commercialization-related expenses such as prototyping, IP work, and market validation.

 EXTERNAL OPPORTUNITIES

Kenneth G. Hancock Memorial Award (ACS Green Chemistry Institute)
Deadline: November 3, 2025

This award recognizes outstanding student contributions to green chemistry research. It encourages the pursuit of environmentally sustainable chemistry and is presented at the Green Chemistry & Engineering Conference. This is a prestigious opportunity for students to gain visibility in the sustainable chemistry field.
Eligibility: Graduate or undergraduate students conducting research in green or sustainable chemistry. Open to both U.S. and international applicants.
Support: $1,000 cash prize and up to $1,000 travel stipend to attend and present at the Green Chemistry & Engineering Conference.

 

NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP)
Deadline: November 1, 2025 (by 6:00 p.m. ET)

Offers postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to conduct research at NASA centers in areas aligned with NASA's science, aeronautics, and space technology missions. Appointments are highly competitive and provide a pathway into federal research leadership.
Eligibility: U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and international applicants with PhDs in relevant fields (e.g., astrophysics, planetary science, biology, engineering).
Support: Stipend rates start at $70,000, NASA will pay approximately 85% of the premium for an individual or family coverage policy purchased through ORAU, and the Fellow will pay the remainder,  $10,000 per appointment year to support travel to conferences, meetings, and other activities.

 

ACLS Fellowship Program
Deadline: September 25, 2025

Eligibility: Open to scholars at all postdoctoral career stages, working on or off the tenure track, who have earned a PhD in the humanities or interpretive social sciences by the application deadline.
ACLS invites applications from scholars pursuing research on topics grounded in any time period, world region, or humanistic methodology. ACLS aims to select fellows who are broadly representative of the variety of humanistic scholarship across all fields of study
Support: 60,000 for a 12-month fellowship. Awards of shorter duration will be prorated at $5,000 per month, with the minimum award set at $30,000. ACLS provides award supplements of between $3,000-$6,000 for independent scholars, adjunct faculty, and faculty with teaching-intensive roles for costs incurred during the fellowship term

Yale Beinecke Library Fellowship

The Beinecke Library Fellowship Program offers, on a competitive basis, fellowships to support graduate students who wish to pursue onsite research with Yale Library Special Collections materials for one to four months. Students applying for a fellowship should be at an advanced stage in their research or prospectus development and propose a fully conceptualized project related to their degree program. Applications from students utilizing traditional methods of archival and bibliographic research are encouraged as are applications from students who wish to pursue creative, interdisciplinary, and non-traditional approaches to conducting research in the collections.

Support: $5,000/month for 1-4 months

Pfizer Emergent Leader Award
Deadline: July 15, 2025 (by 11:00 p.m. ET)

Recognizes up to eight individuals in their 2nd year (or beyond) of graduate studies or in postdoctoral research—fields: organic chemistry, synthetic methodology, total synthesis, medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, or chemical biology. Recipients present at an awards symposium at the ACS Spring Meeting, gaining visibility and networking opportunities. A $1,500 stipend covers travel expenses to attend the ACS Spring Meeting; winners are also recognized at WCC events. 
Eligibility: Graduate students (second year+) and postdoctoral fellows in designated chemistry fields, U.S. citizens or permanent residents only. Check out the website for details on what should be included in the application.
Support: $1,500 (meeting travel stipend)

 

Live Like Lou Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship
Deadline: July 7, 2025

The fellowship supports early-career researchers conducting innovative research to discover treatments or a cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Two fellowships are awarded annually to scientists at academic or comparable research institutions. The program emphasizes advancing ALS science through dedicated postdoctoral study.
Eligibility: Open to postdoctoral researchers within the first four years of training at the start of the fellowship. International applicants and institutions are eligible. Funding is administered through the fellow’s host institution.
Support: Up to $75,000 per year for two years (maximum $150,000 total). Salary support is allowed; indirect costs are not.

 

NSF Astronomy and Astrophysics Postdoctoral Fellowships (AAPF)

The AAPF program supports early-career postdoctoral researchers in astronomy and astrophysics. Fellows design a research program combined with a significant educational component, such as teaching, outreach, or curriculum development. The fellowship emphasizes professional independence and leadership.
Eligibility: Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents within 5 years of receiving a Ph.D.
Support: Fellowship includes a stipend, research and travel allowance, and funding for educational activities.

 

Medieval Academy of America Dissertation Grants
Deadline: February 15 annually | Sponsor: Medieval Academy of America

These grants assist advanced graduate students with research expenses related to doctoral dissertations on medieval studies (circa 300–1500 CE), including travel, manuscript access, and materials.
Eligibility: Ph.D. students who have completed coursework and exams, and have an approved dissertation prospectus.
Support: Grants up to $2,000 are available.

 

Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid of Research (GIAR)
Deadlines: March 15 and October 1 annually | Sponsor: Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society

The GIAR program provides funding to support scientific research by undergraduate and graduate students. Funds may be used for travel expenses related to research or the purchase of non-standard equipment.
Eligibility: Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program. Membership in Sigma Xi is not required but is considered during the review process.
Support: Up to $1,000 for most fields; up to $5,000 for astronomy-related research supported by special funds.


 Arnold O Beckman PostDoc Fellowship

ChLA Hannah Beiter Graduate Student Research Grant
