Tulane School of Medicine | Looking for Graduate Student Support on HIV Research Studies
We are looking to hire a graduate student or post-doctoral trainee (or partial effort of Tulane staff) to work as a behavioral interventionist on a multi-site study to test the efficacy of Project IMPACT, an evidence-based program to improve HIV-related outcomes among stimulant-using cisgender gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men ages 16-24. Project IMPACT is a program that combines HIV sexual health counseling with behavioral activation therapy. The intervention consists of 8 in-person sessions that last roughly one hour each and the caseload would be no more than 20-25 participants over a 2-year period. The position would start in the next 2 months. Training is included and there is potential to be involved in other adolescent and young adult-focused HIV research.
We are also looking for a pre-doctoral student to support manuscript and grant writing for HIV and sexual and gender minority (SGM)-focused research studies. For example, we are currently analyzing data for a qualitative study exploring HIV testing experiences among Black SGM and writing grants on digital health approaches to HIV prevention. Tasks include: conducting literature searches; coding and analyzing qualitative data; performing basic quantitative analyses; managing citations; formatting and submitting manuscripts following journal guidelines; and writing sections of grants and manuscripts. There are opportunities for co-authorship, career mentorship, and conducting original research. The position would require a minimum of 15 (20 max) hours per week.
